The Cabin at Strongate
Enjoy Seclusion near the Jurassic Coast
The Cabin
The Cabin is a secluded, comfy static cabin located in it's own orchard at Strongate Farm. It is the perfect base for families wanting to experience peace and quiet and explore the Jurassic coast and countryside. It is in a rural setting on a small working farm, surrounded by trees with a bridleway running through the farm so a walk from your doorstep can be enjoyed at any time of the day. The stunning Jurassic coastline harbour of West Bay (the location of Broadchurch on TV) is less than 4 miles away.
- SheilaDelicious scones and cream when we arrived. Caravan is well equipped. Lots to do in the area, and a lovely tranquil location to come back to after a day out and sit and chill by the fire pit. Thanks Tess – 20 Jul 2024read moreread less
- SimonWe had a lovely stay for 3 nights during the May half term. Before our visit we emailed Tessa asking for some recommendations of things to do with our 9 and 2 year old and she was extremely helpful.
The caravan was cosy and well equipped with a lovely added touch of fresh scones when we arrived.
The location was easy to find and close to some beautiful beaches. Lots of food and drink options nearby and plenty to see and do.
Our children loved helping with the farm animals and feeding the chickens, ducks and geese in the morning. Our 2 year old especially loved being able to collect the fresh eggs.
We would highly recommend as great pet and child friendly accommodation, well priced in a lovely location. – 30 May 2024read moreread less - KirstyWe had a fab weekend, with everything we could need. Tessa was the perfect host. The farm is beautiful, the kids loved helping let the chickens out and playing on the trampoline. It is a perfect base to explore the local area. – 30 Oct 2023read moreread less
- SonyaVery enjoyable stay. Tessa was incredibly friendly and welcoming. My Son loved being given a couple of jobs on the farm and being around the animals. Very beautiful surroundings and great location to access this part of Dorset. Thank you. – 23 Oct 2023read moreread less

- JonDORSET’S BEST KEPT SECRET! have been coming to Dorset since I was a child (40+ years) but Strongate Farm was easily one of the coolest places I’ve stayed.
Really friendly host in Tessa, who welcomed us with a cream tea and brought us fresh eggs from the hens. lots of animals around (including friendly dogs) and the fire pit was a bonus. if anything, the photos don’t do it justice. would definitely return. – 16 Aug 2023read moreread less - CharlotteTo find this accommodation in such a beautiful peaceful setting was a real joy, if you want a chocolate box snapshot of pretty Dorset farm life without having to do any of the hard work involved (!) then this is the place, idyllic setting, Bridport is gorgeous with plenty of shops and pubs etc, so easy to get to the beaches, just a short drive away … we will come back.. we loved it. – 29 Jul 2023read moreread less
- CatrinWe absolutely love Tessa’s cabin. Beautiful spot hidden away in the orchard on the gorgeous farm, away from all road noise but still very accessible and with so much to see and do locally. Beautiful beaches and interesting and quirky places nearby. We loved waking up to nothing but animal noises and birdsong. The cabin was really comfortable, surprisingly spacious and spotlessly clean with everything we needed. WiFi and smart TV was a bonus for our teenage son but the trampoline, chickens, geese and dogs soon distracted him. Tessa was a generous and kind host. One of the loveliest places we’ve ever stayed in. Thank you. – 02 Jun 2023read moreread less
- CharlotteWe have just returned from a lovely weekend in Tessa’s caravan. Located in a quiet corner of a working farm with lovely local walking routes and close to West Bay and Lyme Regis for days out. Accomodation was clean and cosy and had all the amenities needed – the pizza baking tray was a plus! Lovely to wake to the sounds of birds, cows and chickens! Tessa was lovely, welcomed us with scones and biscuits, and responsive to queries in relation to the local area. Look forward to coming again. – 08 May 2023read moreread less
- RitaWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Cabin and we’re made very welcome by Tessa. All amenities were well catered for. It was ideally located to visit our Grandchildren in Salwayash village. The weather could have been kinder to us but it didn’t prevent us from having fun. We will definitely make a return visit.
Rita Donald – 15 Apr 2023read moreread less - LouiseOur family had an amazing week at Strongate Farm. Tess was a fantastic host and communication was excellent. The caravan is surrounded by beautiful, countryside and our children (11, 9 and 6) loved being able to let the chickens, ducks and geese out every morning and stroking the cute lambs. Bridport is only a short drive away and we visited Lyme Regis, Charmouth and Lulworth Cove. The BBQ, firepit, swing and trampoline were an added bonus. We will definitely be back. – 13 Aug 2022read moreread less

- JosieWe had a amazing few days at the farm, the accommodation was really comfortable, amazing shower and it was so peaceful.
We had our little boy with us who adored the chickens and ducks that roam around and Tess also let him feed the lambs.
Tess is a really lovely host, checked in on us to make sure we were all ok and always on hand encase of any questions. We will definitely book again. – 07 Jul 2022read moreread less - AlexA wonderfully secluded spot in the West Dorset countryside. Tessa (host) is awesome! Accommodation is clean, comfy, and cosy. Location is on a small beautiful working farm close to Bridport and plenty of beaches as well as cider farms, vineyards, and a farm shops. We visited in May during lambing and Tess let my daughter hold a day old lamb! As well as helping to feed the calves. This is a really special place. We will be back! – 04 Jun 2022read moreread less
- ClareIdyllic rural spot. Loved watching the woodpeckers and woodland birds flitting around the orchard and listening to the owls at night. The firepit and a supply of logs was perfect for sitting out until bedtime after a BBQ. Comfy accommodation with everything we needed and a nice hot shower. Biscuits on arrival and freshly base Victoria sponge delivered to us to go with a cuppa one afternoon – Tessa was a great host! There is also a cottage on site and an apartment up the lane, which would enable a bigger group of people to stay together. The spot is beautiful and peaceful and if you like rustic rural peace and quiet on a working farm, then this is a wonderful place to be. The cows are just over the hedge and geese, hens and ducks are wandering around freely, so plenty of animals to chat to. There is an extensive open garden area beyond the orchard, with a trampoline and benches, plus a swing in the tree, so lovely for free range children. – 22 May 2022read moreread less

- EricaTessa is the ultimate host, nothing is too much trouble!
The setting is magical, rustic and peaceful – lovely to see the calves in the field and the chickens and geese in the farmyard. We found it a little cold in April, but would definitely come back and light the fire outside and watch the sun go down in the garden.
A bit challenging if walking and carrying gear but Tessa offered me a lift into town which was much appreciated.
Very quiet and peaceful and lovely outlook.
The caravan was perfectly adequate but a little under insulated, especially the floor – bring slippers! – 11 Apr 2022read moreread less - SueExpect peace and tranquility, far from the main road and away from it all. Impressive views and happy animals greeting visitors – could never grow tired of this setting. Family run, super inviting and lots of fun- thank you! – 26 Oct 2021read moreread less
